Cheap Psychology; New reopening of shops from February 1; Check out the new swab centers; Start vaccination in private hospitals; Mr Gayle’s Uplifting Nature

Friday, January 29, 2021

When I first met my wife, she was quick to catch on to my… …how did she call it?… “cheap psychology”.  And as time went on, she became wiser to my advances and I, too, had to be sharper.  This “cheap psychology” as she still calls it to this very day, is what I used to think were highly advanced methods of negotiation and influence, with a touch of persuasion, priming and embodied cognition as well as cognitive-based cues to deception.  But, I was wrong.  It’s just cheap psychology.  I know this, because I asked her today and she reassured me that I was wrong.

Having been together now for around 15 years, I’ve come to the realization that the best method towards advancement in marriage is profound trust and good faith… …until you find peeled oranges laying in your bed, then, the gloves come off and I revert to my innate roots of cheap psychology.

I knew it was her, because earlier in the day the Queen requested an audience with me, where she handed me a newly acquired bag of 100 oranges she had just picked up for $7.00.  At her behest, I was to peel all 100 oranges before I was allowed to eat, chained in the dungeon decorated with the bones of those who once foolishly wished her ill.  Ok, I over exaggerated.  I was chained to a chair in the kitchen.  Hey, at least I didn’t have to peel any grapes, right?

Now with these freshly peeled oranges stored and a few in her mitts, she frolicked off to the “back 40” to relax in her hammock as we filthy wretches continue with our daily labors.  All was right in the world (for Queen Sayira).

Later that day, as I entered our Royal Bedchambers, what did I spy with my little eye?  Two perfectly peeled oranges ready for human consumption… …royal human consumption, no doubt.

Loosely lounging produce.

To understand what makes this an issue, it’s important to understand that there are a series of written rules established by your highness as to the proper use of said Bedchambers.  Of the multiple, seemingly neverending list of “things that Brett isn’t allowed to do”, one of those things is eating food.  I think it’s rule #15.  I broke that rule a week ago as I decided to decompress and snuggle up to a good book, “Benford’s Law:  Theory, the General Law of Relative Quantities, and Forensic Fraud Detection Applications” and small bowl of cantaloup to take the edge off.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”, she asked.  “Reading….”, I was uncertain that my answer would suffice as it stood.  “No. No. The other thing.”, she insufficiently attempted to clarify.  (Keep in mind, we men need details and precise instructions or we WILL get it wrong.). I foolishly thought about what could have upset her and thought I knew the answer, “Resting in our….” “NO!”, she interrupted.  “You’re eating in bed, and as you well know, Section 10 of the Marriage with Sayira By Laws, clearly states, under paragraph 9, subparagraph 11.B, that no food will be distributed nor consumed on top of nor within the immediate proximity of the marriage bed.  And do I have to remind you of the annexed Rules and Regulations!?!?”, she insisted?  “No, maam.”  And that was seemingly the end of that… ….until now…

It was evident that the two pieces of fruit that were cast upon our marriage bed, defiling the very spiritual essence of our holy union, were done so by the very law maker herself.  Ah, but dare I call her out on it directly? Oh no, no I shant.  Direct accusations are met with immediate resistance and will most certainly automatically activate her long-term memory banks and the last thing I need right now is to be reminded of the time that I forgot to wear the dark blue shirt to Brandon’s kindergarten recital nearly 6 years ago.  But stupid me still couldn’t just leave this alone, not with the scent of the cantaloup fiasco from the week prior, still lingering and seducing my vengeful nature.  It was time for some well-planned cheap psychology.

“Honey.  Oh snookums.  Can you come to the bedroom a moment, sweety-pie?”, I enticed.  She entered the doorway with the sweetest smile, that I would soon foolishly and intentionally  remove.  “What’s up?”, she playfully asked.  I pointed to the ill-placed produce and accusingly informed her, “Look what Brandon left on your side of the bed.  How shall we punish him, darling?”.  My plan was that by accusing the wrong person, our loving beautiful child, she would be forced to confess to her evil ways.

Instead, the smile went away, the sweetness was nowhere to be seen and I knew that somehow I was in trouble.  “Brandon, get in here.”, she subtly summoned our youngest.  “Yes mother.”, he politely and smartly answered as he entered the room.  “Your father, without evidence, is accusing you of placing these oranges on our bed.  Did you do this?”, she said, knowing damn well that it was her.  “No mother, I wouldn’t do that as per Section 10 of the…”, he was cut off.  “No my darling child, there’s no need to recite that part of The Law.  Instead, could you please tell us the punishment for wrongful accusations of a family member?”, she asked.  “Yes mother, Section 14, is on Punishments and as per these same By Laws, said punishment is 100 lashes with a wet noodle.  First time offenses, can be reduced to…”, his robotic response was interrupted again. “No dear, there’s no need for reductions.  Prepare the kettle for the noodle preparations and please removed these vile citrus orbs from my sight.”

I was bested again.

TOP NEWS and TIDBITS:

Yoli’s Wisdom:

A finger thingy testing blood oxygen level – anything below 92% is cause for alarm.

Why oxygen levels in the blood can drop to dangerously low levels, without the patient noticing, is one of the mysteries of covid-19

It is known as “silent hypoxia.”

Its effect makes patients arrive at the hospital in a worse state than previously thought. In some cases, too late to receive effective treatment.

But one solution that can be a true lifesaver is the pulse oximeter, a small device that allows patients to monitor their oxygen levels at home.

They are being used in high-risk COVID-19 patients in the UK through a scheme led by a doctor who believes everyone should consider buying one in this pandemic.

Oxygen levels

A normal level of oxygen in the blood is between 95% and 100%.

“We have been receiving covid patients with oxygen levels in the 1970s or 1980s,” Dr Matt Inada-Kim, an acute medicine consultant at Hampshire hospitals of the British public health service, told the BBC.

A pulse oximeter is worn on the middle finger and emits a light. Its function is to measure how much light is absorbed to calculate oxygen levels in the blood.

In England they are provided to people with covid who are over 65 years old, as well as to younger ones with a health problem, or to anyone who worries doctors.

People measure and record their oxygen levels three times a day. If the levels drop to 93%, then you need to contact your doctor or go to the emergency room. If they drop below 92%, you must go to the emergency room or call for an ambulance.

Some studies, which still require a second review by other scientists, have shown that even small drops below 95% are linked to an increased risk of death.

“The whole point of this strategy is to try to stay ahead of time to prevent people from getting very sick, admitting patients to a more recoverable point in their illness,” says Inada-Kim.

ARAP DEMANDS ‘EXEMPLARY PUNISHMENT’ TO OWNERS OF RESTAURANTS WHO VIOLATE THE REGULATIONS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC

The ARAP recalled that its sector remains “highly affected by the situation caused by the pandemic.

The Association of Restaurants and Related of Panama (ARAP) demanded from the health authorities “exemplary punishment” for restaurant owners who violate the regulations established by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We demand from the authorities once again the publication of the offending restaurants, as well as the certainty of exemplary punishment, without privileges or privileges, as established in the Constitution of the Republic of Panama,” said ARAP.

The group of businessmen that make up the ARAP condemns the unfair competition and the constant “play alive” of bad businessmen who have been exposed on social networks and the media.

They added that this group of disloyalists continue to “insist on violating the standards established for the entire sector, even more so when their wrongdoing affects the entire industry.”

The ARAP recalled, in the statement signed by its president Domingo De Obaldia, that its sector remains “highly affected by the situation caused by the health pandemic.”

“Complying with the rules is not easy, even when our dreams are falling apart day by day when we see our companies go bankrupt, but it is the only viable legal option accompanied by dialogue with the authorities and as a formal union we believe it and thus we urge to continue doing so. ”The statement emphasized.

RESTAURANT OWNERS ASK FOR THE REOPENING OF FEBRUARY 1

The opening of restaurants in person, with the mandatory use of acrylic screens, will be on February 15.

The Association of Restaurants, Bars and Clubs of Panama (Arbyd) asks the Government to work in an urgent implementation table with experts in preventive medicine or epidemiology, and representatives of the Ministries of Health, Commerce and Labor, to achieve concrete and efficient actions that allow the opening of commercial premises on February 1.

This request, among others, arises after more than 300 restaurants did not reopen their doors during a 10-month pandemic, out of a total of 550 managed by the Association.

“By extrapolating this to restaurants that are not in Arbyd, it would add at least 3,000 restaurants that have not reopened,” said Luis Pinedo of the Association.

Pinedo indicated that not opening the restaurants until March, as established by the gradual reopening plan drawn up by the government, will create a major economic and social problem.

He explained that home delivery of food represents only 20% of billing, when a basic payroll of a restaurant is 35% minimum billing. “Home delivery is just for a living,” he mentioned.

“The restaurant owners have given a proposal to the Executive from the first day of the pandemic and some have been accepted, such as the taxes, and the tax credit that is being analyzed; that is why we believe that we should not reach the limit like Italy where restaurant owners are going to open all at the same time despite the health situation and the measures established by their government, ”Pinedo said.

He asked to differentiate the reopening and the economic reactivation. “If the state budget cuts money for tourism promotion, it automatically takes away the opportunity for reopening … gastronomy is vital in the tourism development of this country,” he said.

The union added that the screen does not solve, but generates an expense, because its installation, in a small restaurant with about 10 tables, could cost a thousand dollars, a great expense that the owners of establishments would make, without being sure if day after the investment order another closing, for which they request the elimination of the requirement.

MINSA CONFIRMS THAT PART OF THE RESERVE OF THE FIRST LOT OF VACCINES AGAINST COVID-19 WILL BE USED

Panama received 12,840 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech on January 20.

The Ministry of Health of Panama confirmed that it was decided to use part of the reserve of the total of 12,840 doses of vaccine against COVID-19, corresponding to the first load received in the country from Pfizer / BioNTech.

This same Tuesday, doses were sent to the provinces of Panama, Panama Oeste, Chiriquí and Veraguas, however, Minsa sources emphasized that the entire reserve will not be used, and that the vaccines sent will be used by health professionals who work directly with COVID-19 positive patients.

Initially, Health authorities had indicated that half (6,400) would be applied immediately to the front line personnel in the battle against the pandemic, a process that culminated this weekend, and the other half would be saved to guarantee the second dose at 21 days as per Pfizer’s initial recommendation.

Panama expected a first load with 40 thousand doses, however, Pfizer announced an adjustment in its production process that limited its delivery capacity, so the country only received 12,840 doses in the early morning of January 20.

The reduction of the expected burden and the application of the already limited doses to people who were not necessarily part of the priority group, provoked protests from the first-line health personnel who were not considered on the first day of application of the anticovid vaccine, both public and private sector.

Although the Minsa had not made the official announcement, on Tuesday morning the Vaccine Meter began to update the number of people who had been inoculated, surpassing 7,000 before noon.

So far, it is unknown how many of the 6,400 doses that remained in reserve will be used, and it is not known the arrival date of the second batch of vaccines.

PEOPLE WITH RESERVATIONS FOR HOTELS IN THE INTERIOR WILL BE ABLE TO CROSS CHECKPOINT; PROOF OF STAY MUST BE PRESENT

At the checkpoint, a printout could also be shown showing the payment made to the hotel.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) clarified that people who have reservations in hotels in the interior of the country will be able to cross the Capira checkpoint (West Panama). To do this, they must show the security officials the voucher that reflects the length of stay at the hotel, including weekends.

Yuealy Singh, national director of Internal Trade, revealed – last Friday, January 22 – that reservations can be used. This, as long as people show that, in effect, they have an active reservation in one of the hotels in the rest of the country.

The Press learned that there was recently a virtual meeting attended by representatives of the MICI, the National Police and the Ministry of Health, in which this issue was discussed and it was agreed that travelers could pass the fence implemented by the Government, if the reservation was shown.

Previously, it had been reported that the payment receipt that was made to the hotel could also be printed.

Singh said – in Telemetro Reporta – that the MICI has always maintained constant communication with the health and security authorities. She clarified that the reported cases of people not being able to pass were probably due to their being unable to justify their reservation at the hotel.

CORONAVIRUS DETECTED IN PLACENTA OF TWO ASYMPTOMATIC COVID-19 MOTHERS IN PANAMA

The women were infected, but without symptoms.

Panamanian researcher Sandra López Vergès shared the results of a study carried out in two pregnant women infected with covid-19, but who did not present symptoms.

According to the doctor, the virus was detected in the placenta of the females.

“We detected SARS-CoV-2 in the placenta of two asymptomatic covid-19 mothers. A collaborative study by the Gorgas Institute, the teams of Dr. Mairim Solis and my team, in addition to the Santo Tomás Hospital and the Arnulfo Arias Hospital Complex”, expressed the scientist.

The results of this research are already published in the indexed international journal “The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology”.

López recalled that, despite not presenting symptoms of the infection, asymptomatic people can spread the disease.

“Both the asymptomatic and the presymptomatic can infect, the window and the probability change. In these two specific cases none of the mothers developed symptoms, they were asymptomatic,” she stressed.

The babies were born without complications, but the researcher considers it important to follow them up.

“Fortunately, both babies were not detected by PCR and appear to be fine and without sequelae. Long-term follow-up studies are necessary to determine whether some will develop sequelae or not,” she explained.

REGENERON AFFIRMS THAT ITS TREATMENT IS EFFECTIVE AGAINST TWO VARIANTS OF COVID-19

Regeneron hopes his treatment will also be effective against the Brazilian variant, as the latter has similar mutations to the British one.

Regeneron’s synthetic antibody treatment remains effective against British and South African variants of Covid-19, the US biotech company said on Wednesday.

The Brazilian variant is still under study, although it is similar to the British one, the company added.

The antibody cocktail, which was used to treat former President Donald Trump, was urgently cleared by the US Drug Agency in late November.

It is indicated for people who have developed mild or moderate symptoms of Covid-19 and are at high risk of presenting a severe form of the disease.

REGEN-COV, composed of “the two neutralizing antibodies” called imdevimab and casirivimab, “retained its powerful neutralizing capacity against the British variant B.1.1.7” as well as “against the South African variant B.1.351”, said the company in a statement.

Regarding the South African variant, however, one of the two antibodies, casirivimab, saw its “reduced potency.”

Scientists at Columbia University reached the same conclusions, and their study was peer-reviewed.

Regeneron hopes his treatment will also be effective against the Brazilian variant, as the latter has similar mutations to the British one. Studies are underway to confirm this.

“These data … validate our multi-antibody cocktail approach,” said George Yancopoulos, Regeneron’s President and Chief Scientific Officer.

“With two complementary antibodies in one treatment, even if its potency is reduced, the risk of the cocktail losing its efficacy is significantly reduced.”

“We have hundreds of powerful neutralizing antibodies in our labs that could form novel combinations that may be useful against future variants,” he added.

The variants are different versions of the original coronavirus, appearing over time due to various mutations. A normal phenomenon in the life of a virus.

But the mutation seen in the variant that emerged in South Africa is of particular interest to scientists because of its ability to circumvent developed drugs.

As of January 26, 308 cases of the British variant and one case of the Brazilian variant had been confirmed in the United States, Rochelle Walensky, future director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the main federal agency for the disease, said Wednesday. public health of the country.

No case of the South African variant has yet been confirmed in that country.

MINSA DETECTS POSITIVE COVID-19 PERSONNEL WORKING IN A SUPERMARKET CHAIN IN LA CHORRERA

Some 130 owners of commercial premises located in Panama and West Panama were cited for failing to comply with Executive Decree No. 62.

Health authorities ordered the temporary closure of two branches of a supermarket chain in La Chorrera, Panama Oeste, after detecting positive covid-19 personnel at work.

According to reports, the management of the supermarkets provided the health personnel conducting the inspection with swab tests performed by a private laboratory hired by the company.

One of the stores is located in the Costa Verde area and the other is in the central area of the La Chorrera district.

About 130 owners of commercial premises located in Panama and West Panama were cited for failing to comply with Executive Decree No. 62, which has to do with sanitary measures and the curfew, during operations carried out by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the Joint Task Force (JTF) and justices of the peace.

Since last December a mobility restriction has been in force in both provinces, which implies purchasing by gender due to the high rate of infections with covid-19.

Likewise, the curfew and total quarantine measure is maintained on Saturdays and Sundays.

Likewise, in shops the customer is required to comply with the temperature measurement and disinfection of the hands prior to entering the premises.

THE DRUG COLCHICINA REDUCES THE RISK OF COMPLICATIONS FROM COVID-19, ACCORDING TO STUDY

The results of the study are a “great scientific discovery.”

A major clinical trial showed that an anti-inflammatory drug called colchicine is effective in treating COVID-19 and reduces the risk of complications from the disease, doctors in Canada said.

The results of the study are a “great scientific discovery” and make colchicine, a drug used to treat gout, “the world’s first oral drug that could be used to treat out-of-hospital patients with COVID-19,” said the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) in a statement Friday night.

Study results show that colchicine reduced the risk of death or hospitalizations in COVID-19 patients by 21 percent compared to placebo, the institute said.

The study was conducted in Canada, the United States, Europe, and South America among a population of 4,488 patients.

The investigation concluded that, in 4,159 of these patients, in whom the diagnosis of COVID-19 was confirmed by a nasopharyngeal PCR test, the use of colchicine reduced hospitalizations by 25 percent. The need for mechanical ventilation was reduced by 50 percent and deaths by 44 percent.

Colchicine is effective in preventing dangerous inflammatory syndromes called “cytokine storms” and reducing complications associated with COVID-19, said Jean-Claude Tardif, director of the MHI Research Center and principal investigator on this study.

“We are pleased to offer the world’s first oral medication whose use could have a significant impact on public health and potentially prevent complications from Covid-19 for millions of patients,” Tardif said.

The study was conducted among COVID-19 patients who were not hospitalized at the time of enrollment in the trial. They also had at least one risk factor for complications from the virus.

“This is the largest study in the world testing an orally administered drug in non-hospitalized covid-19 patients,” the institute said.

AIG INFORMS THAT NAMES OF VACCINES AGAINST COVID-19 WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED IN PANAMA

Part of the health personnel at the Dionisio Arrocha hospital in Puerto Armuelles was vaccinated against covid-19 on January 24.

The administrator of the National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG), Luis Oliva, reported this Wednesday that the names and data of the people who have been vaccinated against covid-19 in Panama to date will not be published.

The clarification by Oliva is given by the complaints that occurred last week, in which it was ensured that people who were not on the front line of battle against the coronavirus, were vaccinated.

The complaints were made by intensivist doctors and health personnel who directly care for patients with covid-19, who demanded the publication of the list of people who had already received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

For what Oliva explained today in the Radio Radiography program, which is broadcast on EcoTV, the request of those who presented the complaint cannot be fulfilled, because it is confidential data of those vaccinated as patients.

The official mentioned that this was the response that the AIG received to the query made to the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai).

In relation to the complaints, the Social Security Fund (CSS) promised that there would be dismissals.

“Those who are public officials and accepted or agree to be vaccinated without being part of the group of workers of the UCI (Intensive Care Unit), UCRE (Special Respiratory Care Unit) and do not maintain direct contact with patients in COVID wards, will be immediately dismissed The life of Panamanians does not allow anyone to play live, “the entity published on its Twitter account.

“Likewise, those who appear on the list of the vaccination registry and are not doctors or nurses who are in ICU, UCRE rooms, but CSS officials, will also be dismissed. The life of Panamanians does not allow anyone to play alive”, added.

Panama began its immunization campaign against covid-19 with the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine on Wednesday, January 20, after the arrival of the first shipment, with fewer doses than had been agreed.

GERMANY INCLUDES PANAMA IN THE GROUP OF ‘HIGH INCIDENCE’ COUNTRIES

Germany includes Spain in the group of ‘high incidence’ countries.

On Friday, German health authorities included Panama among the group of more than 20 countries considered “high incidence”, for which the most severe restrictions on travel due to the pandemic apply.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), in collaboration with the Ministries of the Interior and Health, this afternoon updated the new classification of countries according to their epidemiological risk in accordance with what was agreed by the central government and the federal states.

In this group headed by Spain, are Albania, Andorra, Bolivia, Bosnia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Slovenia, United States, Estonia, Iran, Israel, Colombia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Portugal, Czech Republic, Serbia and the Palestinian Territories.

The decision, which takes effect at 0.00 local time this Sunday (23:00 GMT on Saturday), means that travelers from these countries will have to present a double negative test to enter Germany.

The first must be done up to 48 hours before the flight and delivered as soon as you land. The second can be done from the fifth day of quarantine, which will be mandatory for people from these “high incidence” countries.

This new classification, decided at the beginning of January, foresees three other groups of countries: “Areas of concern due to variant” of the virus, “Areas of particularly high risk” and regions “not considered areas of risk”.

In the first group are the countries where the main mutations of concern have been detected at the moment: Brazil, the United Kingdom and South Africa, as well as Ireland.

All other countries are included in the risk group, except for two regions in Greece (Attica and North Aegean) and one in Norway (Innlandet), which have seen their data improve in the last ten days.

In addition, it was decided that, from Monday to Friday, only residents of the province of Colón will be able to use the beaches.

Thus, the authorities agreed not to admit visitors from other sectors of the country to the beach area.

The measure was taken after last weekend there were reports of crowds on Isla Grande and other beaches on the Atlantic coast.

It was also reported that the majority of the visitors did not use masks and came from other provinces of the country.

Edgar Coto, regional director of the Ministry of Health, reported that to ensure compliance with this provision, the security forces will carry out permanent rounds.

Those who are caught violating the new provision will be brought before the justices of the peace for their due sanction.

On his side, Marco A. Zárate, president of the board of directors of the Colón Chamber of Tourism, reminded the authorities that one of their obligations is to help save the tourism industry in the province.

“What we stop doing today for tourism, we will regret it tomorrow,” said a statement from the Chamber of Tourism of Colón, signed by Zárate.

For Zárate, the closure of the beach weekends is an “improvised” measure.

They warn of extreme levels of ultraviolet radiation nationwide.

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) warned of high levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation with periods of little cloud cover, generating a higher incidence of solar radiation in different sectors of the country until January 31.

In the hydrometeorological bulletin, it establishes radiation indices with extreme ranges greater than 11 for Chiriquí, the south and center of Veraguas, Los Santos, Herrera, Coclé and the maritime sector of the Panamanian Pacific.

For Costa Arriba of Colón, the Comarca Guna Yala, Darién, the Comarca Emberá, Panama Oeste and the maritime sector of the Panamanian Caribbean, very high radiation is expected with ranges from 9 to 10.

While the north of Veraguas, Costa Abajo de Colón, and Panama will have very high radiation indices with ranges from 8 to 9.

For its part, the Comarca Ngabe Buglé and the province of Bocas del Toro will maintain high radiation indices with ranges from 5 to 8.

The authorities insist on the need to protect yourself when exposed to the sun during any outdoor activity due to the indexes. They recommend not to abuse in the exposed sun exposure.

FIRE FIGHTERS RESCUE A NORTH AMERICAN HIKER WHO HAD AN ACCIDENT IN SAN CARLOS

The woman fell into a river and was taken to the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital.

The Meritorious Fire Department of Panama Oeste reported this afternoon on the rescue they achieved of an American hiker, after she fell into the María de San Carlos River.

According to the firefighters, they achieved this Wednesday the rescue of the woman who suffered an accident in the María River, located in San Carlos, in an area adjacent to the lagoon of the same name, and transferred her to the Nicolás Solano de La Chorrera Hospital.

The 61-year-old hiker was found with other people in the María River and while she was making her way she slipped, rolled and fell into the water, where she was submerged for 15 minutes until her own companions managed to remove her, detailed José Lezcano, paramedic and rescuer of the Firemen.

“Fortunately, her partner has knowledge of first aid and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), making her breathe again,” said the paramedic.

Upon realizing how far away from the site where the accident victim was, the firefighters requested a rescue ambulance (4 × 4) to access the area. However, together with units of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) that also responded to the emergency call, they walked for a couple of hours to extract the patient, who had a moderate health condition.

This is a list of the number of cases per day since the first case was discovered in Panama

END NOTES:

It’s been a while since I’ve honored another of the good people in my life.  Today’s a good day to do just that.  Having served together but in separate branches of the military, today’s honoree and I were lucky enough to come together after so many years on our own, separate yet successful paths.  My good friend Joseph “Joe” Gayle is a point of inspiration every day now with his morning greets that he sends out to a select group of friends and family.  Here are just a few of the spirit-lifting quotes that Joe has graced me with in the month of January.

Stay safe…  Stay healthy…  And by all means (unless you’re in line at the bank on a Friday, with the sole intent of finally mingling with someone of the opposite sex) STAY HOME!!…
